Alhagi pseudalhagi (M.B.) is a plant widely distributed in Xinjiang province. It is a folk medicine for the treatment of rheumatism and cancer. The entire plant could be used to treat cold, fever, the damp-heat of the stomach and abdominal as well as the enteritis. Its leaves are always been used to treat articular pain, and the flowers have the effect of heat-clearing and detoxifying, and as for the seeds, it could be used to treat dysentery and toothache. Beside that, secretion, polysaccharide, from the branches and leaves of A. pseudalhagi is called "CiTang" and used as a kind of Uygur ethnomedicine to treat neurogenic headache all the time. From the 70%ethanol extract of the aerial part of the plant, total 21 compounds were isolated by chromatographic and recrystallized methods. On the basis of spectroscopic analysis (UV, IR, NMR, MS) and measuring of physico-chemical characters,16 of them were identified as follows:Flavonols:isorhamnetin(1), isorhamnetin 3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(2), isorhamnetin 3-O-β-D-rutinoside(3), kaempferol(4), quercetin(5), rutin(6). Isoflavones: pratensein(7), calycosin(8),3’,7-dihydroxyl-4’,8-dimethoxylisoflavone(9), formonoetin(10), ononin(11). Isoflavonolignans:pseudalhagin A (12). Phenolic acids:salylic acid(13), vanillic acid(14). Sterols:β-sitosterol(15), daucosterol(16). Among them, compound 12 is a new compound, compounds 4,7,8,9,10,11,13 and 14 were obtained from this genus for the first time, compounds 2,5 and 6 were first found in this plant.A review on the structure types and spectral characters of isoflavonolignans was based on related references and our study work.
