With the vision of the social and cultural history, this paper discusses theinteractive relationship between the fengshui Belief and clan in Liukeng, atransition zone which extends from Hakka delta to the middle area of JiangXi.By the methods of field research and literature analysis, and presenting theexisting geomantic legends and landscape in Liukeng, the paper explores thepresent status of fengshui culture in Liukeng, including the internal and externalecosystem, and examines the relations between fengshui and clan, which drawslessons from theories and perspectives of multiple disciplinary, like sociology,anthropology, folklore, and so on. Fengshui is an adaptable culture, whichsuccessfully survives and finds its balance between the major tradition and littletradition, taking both theoretical rationality and actual benefits into account. Andthe involvement of patriarchal clan elite, including the geomancy practice andthe geomancy writing adopted by genealogy, enhanced the credibility ofgeomancy belief, is a force to be reckoned with.Clan initiatively integratesfengshui culture into its power architecture, and then the double wins areattained.
