| In this essay, I made an analysis of the importance of translating Chinese contemporary short stories and determined translation criterias:Fu Lei’s theory of spiritual resemblance and Qian Zhongshu’s theory of Sublimity. Given the characteristics of Chinese contemporary short stories, translation of this style of stories requires paying attention to four aspects so as to guarantee the translation is acceptable in language use, writing style and cultural background:words, dictions and phrases; sentences and paragraphs; writing style and background; culture. |
