It is worthwhile to have a deep discussion about the the signaficant influence that the third culture in the original text has on translation. Taking the translation of Land of the morning calm (Maarten Meijer,2005:220-257) as an example, this text firstly discussed the issue of adaptation and alienation, and got a conclusion that alienation is more applicable under this situation given the author’s writing intention and the translator’s purpose. Based on the above, this text had a further study on the feature of alienation when the third culture exists, then pointed out that alienation actually includes two aspects:SL culture-oriented and the third culture-oriented, and our translation should be inclined to the third culture. Moreover, we should also take the strong cultural similarities between Chinese culture and the third culture(Korean culture) into consideration, and moderately get close to TL culture in order to make our translation more expressive and elegant, and this will inevitably lead to the phenomena of omission and borrowing Chinese expressions. |
