Li Changchun Erhu Music Creation Analysis

As one of the most outstanding erhu performers, educators and bow-stringedinstrument reformers nowadays, Mr. ChangchunLi has been working dedicationdecades to erhu artistic field. In the hard persistent pursuit of erhu music, he has madeoutstanding achievements in many aspects, like teaching, playing, creating andresearching. Especially in the music compositions creation, not only has he absorbedand utilized the essence of our ethnic folk music freely, but also has he added manymodern western musicall creative techniques and skills, which reflects his uniquecreative style. This paper analyses 9 erhu compositions of Mr. ChangchunLi from theaspects of their creative backgrounds and methods. With arranging, it talks about Li’screation aesthetic ideology, academic status and his contribution to the Chinese erhumusic art.
