Since the beginning of20th century, Frankfurt School has a pivotal position in the fieldof cultural studies. There is no doubt that Frankfurt School pioneered on the precedent of thecritique of mass culture, the school’s mass culture theory has become very important in thestudy of the theoretical basis of the contemporary popular culture. Study on mass culturetheory of the Frankfurt School, study of Chinese mass has a very important significance andinspiration on the theory culture. This article based on the historical context that derives fromFrank mass cultural theory. The essence it resources and ideas for picking, and conducted astudy on the theory and criticism. Based on the current situation of the development ofcontemporary Chinese popular culture, this article expounds the limitation of theory ofFrankfurt mass culture that transplanted to China in the use of in the context of popularculture. The introduction section of this article describes a study on significance of Frankfurtmass culture theory, current research, and research, ideas and methods, paper body is dividedinto two parts.The first chapter explains the historical context of Frankfurt mass culture theory,believing that Germany fascism and United States totalitarian is to have a significant impacton the theory of two historical contexts. Also on the analysis of the theory of resourceanalysis, considers that physical and chemical theory, psychoanalysis and learn valuablespiritual nourishment in the critical spirit.The second chapter states Frankfurt mass culture theory of essence. Focus oninterpretation of ideological manipulation theorists of popular culture, standardization and thefalse personality,"commodity fetishism" content such as feature and non-human.The third chapter presented on Frankfurt School’s critique of mass culture theory. Firstly, the thesis states the brief analysis of popular culture in the history of China.Secondly, based on the current situation of the development of contemporary Chinese popular culture transplanted to China, it has pointed out that this theory may be limited in the use of inthe context of popular culture.
