In the Ming and Qing dynasties novels about human relationship, the image of shrewappears in literary works a lot, and it is also an important subject in the Ming and Qing novels.This paper argues that the "shrew" image in the Ming and Qing novels is the results of theinfluence of the great mass physical cultural ideological trend. Combining with the historicalbackground, this paper makes an analysis of the root causes of formation of the image ofshrew in the Ming and Qing dynasties novels and culture.The thesis consists of four parts. The first part mainly discusses the neo-Confucianism andMing novels about human relationship of shrew image. The second part mainly discussesneo-Confucianism and human relationship of shrew image in the late Ming novels. The thirdpart mainly discusses neo-Confucianism and the shrew image in the early Qing dynasty ofnovels about human relationship. The fourth part mainly discusses the neo-Confucianism andthe shrew image in the fiction of the late Qing dynasty.In the Early Ming dynasty, in under the influence of neo-Confucianism,there are fewreal shrew. In the Late Ming,neo-Confucianism is the popular,influenced deeply in thenovels about human relationship of the ideological connotation. under the influence of theneo-Confucianism,Qing dynasty novels about human relationship is not like the Mingdynasty novels,in late Qing dynasty,compared with the previous literature,novels abouthuman relationship in this period declining,because there have not strictly "shrew" image inthis period,and in the early twentieth century,with the new thought intervention,neo-Confucianism also complete collapse. Finally the conclusion is: the neo-Confucianism in a way that affects people’s life, and thecreation of the novel. Neo-Confucianism and Ming and Qing novels should be as the wholecultural phenomenon to discuss. It also reflects the cultural background of the Ming and qingdynasties.
