Handanxian Dialect Vocabulary Study

In recent years, Chinese dialect vocabulary study has made considerable progress, amongwhich, the comparative study of dialect vocabulary is most fruitful. Many research papers andbooks on Hebei dialects can be found, but research on Handan dialect vocabulary is not much,not to mention its systematic research. With the replacement of old and new, and the penetrationof Mandarin, some feature words of Handan dialect and their characteristics are also graduallydisappearing. Therefore, a systematic and meticulous description and analysis of Handan dialectvocabulary and their characteristics has become particularly necessary and urgent.This paper consists of five parts:1. Introduction, including the theoretical background,research method, significance and speakers of Handan dialect vocabulary study.2.HandanCounty and Handan dialect, this chapter mainly introduces the geography, history anddemographic profiles of Handan County, as well as an overview of its dialect.3.Vocabulary ofHandan dialect, this chapter is a summary of Handan dialect terms, whose collection isfieldwork-based, supplemented by literature reference.4. A comparison of Handan dialectvocabulary and Mandarin vocabulary, mainly from the two aspects of lexical morphology andlexical semantics, of which, morphological comparison includes the comparison of voice number,word formation and word coinage, and semantics comparison includes the comparison of basicmeaning, grammatical meaning and rhetoric significance.5. A diachronic study on Handandialect vocabulary, two aspects included: one is the diachronic evolution of vocabulary,containing lexical inheritance, mutation, innovation, and borrowing; the other is the externalfactors of vocabulary’s diachronic evolution, including geographical factors, historical factorsand cultural factors.This paper, for the first time, classifies Handan dialect vocabulary. With a transverse andlongitudinal analysis, this paper put synchronic study and diachronic study on the same plane, tomore clearly reveal the internal rule of Handan dialect. In addition, this article combines dialect’sontology research with its external research, revealing its historical, social, cultural significanceand regional characteristics. Through this study, the author hopes to accumulate some corpus forHandan dialect vocabulary study, and provide some ideas and references for its future furtherresearch.
