As one of the main expression forms of children’s emotional disorder, Anxietyrefers to a kind of unpleasant emotional experience towards external events andinternal thought or emotion. The problem of children anxiety involves multiple factors,both internal and external, instead of single one. The previous studies have provedthat the Parenting style is the critical factor affecting children’s anxiety (Choira &Barlow,1998;Vasey & Dadds,2001;Wood,MeLeod,Siglnan & Hwang,2003). TheParenting style refers to the parents’relatively stable behavior tendency, which is thecomprehensive performance of parenting ideas, parenting behaviors and affectiontowards children. The Parenting style reflects the essence of parent-child interaction.Through researching elementary children, Muris et al have found that there is relationbetween the Parenting style and anxiety level. The children’s selfreport indicates thatanxiety has relevance with the Parenting style, overprotection and rejection. As theinternal factor causing children’s anxiety, emotion regulation refers to the processwhere an individual exerts influence over emotional occurrence, emotional experienceand emotional expression. Research shows the normal children can efficiently takeadvantage of emotion knowledge to regulate emotional experience and expression inan appropriate way, thereby, put up more adaptive behaviors in social interaction.However, for the children with anxiety, it is difficult to achieve that according to thesituation, consequently, exert more non-adaptive behaviors(Douglas , Richard,Cynthia ,2002. And research shows that different Parenting styles are of great concernfor children’s emotion regulation strategies(Mclntyre & Dusek,2000).In conclusion, many researches have found that both the Parenting style andchildren emotion regulation have influence on children anxiety. (Muris , Douglas,Richard & Cynthia,2002). And the Parenting style has influence on children emotionregulation, therefore, this study is aimed at investigating the influence on childrenanxiety based on the Parenting style through children emotion regulation and themesomeric effect from children anxiety affected by the Parenting style based onemotion regulation. This study uses cross-sectional design to investigate 439 students from Grade 3-6of a primary school in Jinan sampled by random with questionnaire about theParenting style by Steinberg et al, Emotion Regulation Checklist by Zhang Lei et aland Chinese version of Spence Anxiety Scale for Children. The total number of validreturn was 420. On this basis, this research has drawn the following conclusions:1 Children anxiety level is correlated with gender differences. Girls’issignificantly higher than boys’on separation anxiety, social anxiety, persecutionanxiety and total anxiety level.2 Children anxiety level is correlated with grade differences. The anxietylevel of high grade students in primary school drops with the rise of grade, while themiddle students’anxiety level is generally higher than high grade students’.3 Children emotion regulation has significant negative correlation with theParenting style, while having significant positive correlation with psychologicalindependence and severe supervision of the Parenting style.4 Except anxiety Total Points, Separation anxiety, Compulsive disorder andPersecution anxiety, Social anxiety disorder, Panic disorder and the Generalizeddisorder anxiety all have significant negative correlation with Parents participatoryapproach. Psychological independence and severe supervision in the Parenting stylehave significant positive correlation with dimensions of children anxiety level.5 Except Persecution anxiety, children anxiety has significant positivecorrelation with children emotion regulation in all directions.6 Regression analysis has found that anxiety level of children in primaryschool can be predicted by emotion regulation. In addition to damage the baby fear,emotional adjustment to anxiety and other points total dimension scores havesignificantly positive prediction effect. That is ,the higher the score children’semotion regulation, children’s anxiety level higher ,it shows that children’s emotionadjustment ability ,the worse the higher the anxiety level children.7 Regression analysis has found that anxiety level of children in primaryschool can be predicted by the Parenting style. The Parents participatory approachof Parenting style plays a very important role in negative prediction of children social anxiety, panic disorder and generalized disorder anxiety, inversely,psychological independency and severe supervision play the corresponding role inpositive prediction of children anxiety Total Points and all dimensions.
