The Fengshenyanyi Several Transformation Of Lawrence W. Zhou Cutting Up Historical Research

This paper studied on the similarities and differences between the novel Creation of the Gods and the history of Wuwang Fa Zhou to analyze the author’s purpose of consciously building of this transformation. By combing the background,time,process and nature of Wuwang Fa Zhou, the author structured and described the real framework of the historical facts and did contrastive analysis of the novel basing on these facts, drawing the conclusion that the differences are mainly in the description of characters and the plots of the story.In other words,the author payed more attention on characters and plots than other aspects. Character-reconstruction was mainly reflected in two types of Kings as Zhouwenwang, Zhouwuwang and Shangzhouwang and two types of courtiers as Jiang Ziya and Daji, expressing the author’s political aspirations of attacking the political darkness and calling for brilliant emperor and worthy ministers. Reconstruction of the story is transforming formal dynastic succession mainly dominated by historical figures to fights between immortals and evils of extraordinary superpower,which became the main content of the novel, while real historical content then became a subsidiary of the fights among the supernatural characters. There are two main purposes of this transformation, one is using religion to protect their political ideals and moral; the second is to render for creating a set of immortal lineage.
