“You†plus “verb of senses†is one type of Discourse Markers,such as you see, you hear,you say. Here I call it Sensory Verbs Discourse Markers (SVDMs). Discourse Markers (DMs) isa pragmatic mechanism particular to oral communication. In using language, they have context,express emotion attitude, and other functions, so it goes with SVDMs. Based on relevance theoryand linguistic adaptation theory, this article works on the research of SVDMs’ functions andgenerative mechanism. This research is beneficial for us to understand this form deeply and touse it effectively and scientifically.The whole text is divided into six parts.Chapterâ… , introduction. It mainly introduces the significance of this dissertation, methodsand corpus, as well as expounds the history, the present research and some main theories ofDMs.Chapter â…¡, about SVDMs. It mainly introduces some basic information of SVDMs,including its demarcation and position. Confirming the demarcation is according to the formerresearch of DMs. The position of SVDMs is very flexible, and it makes many variations. Butgenerally speaking, it always located in the beginning of the sentence.Chaper â…¢, the study of SVDMs’function. This chapter is the core of the whole thesis. Inthis part, it was discussed intensively from the two aspects of pragmatic functions and semanticfunctions. Then first, describing the classification of SVDMs. Among the classification, thepragmatic functions were divided into discourse suggestion functions and text organizationfunctions. The semantic functions contain five parts: causing attention, explanation, illustration,euphemistic expressions, declare speaker himself. Second, based on the statistic of corpus, makeforms and diagrams. By comparing, it can make further study of SVDMs’ functions.Chaper â…£, the production and developing reasons of SVDMs. The extension of personalpronoun meaning and the grammaticaliztion of verb meaning is the form of its production. In theprocess, Subjective change and grammatical are also further unceasingly. At last the speaker’semotional, perspective and understanding became the reason of influence and using SVDMs.Chapterâ…¤, some skills and strategies for teaching Chinese as a foreign language from thispaper study. Understanding the system of SVDMs will help the second language learners toimprove their using and master SVDMs. Pay more attention to living example and academicenvironment is also a good method to learning this kind of linguistic form.Chapter â…¥, conclusion.
