Abstract: The central tower grotto is one of caves that lasted for a long time anddistributed a wider region in Buddhism grotto construction. Yungang Grottoes isdigging by The royal of northern Wei dynasty, The northern Wei nation is speciallyfull of nomadic character, the leader execute a series of Hanization policies, thiscauses the calsh and merging in two nations’ culture. Yungang Grottoes embodies thisculture, especially in Pavilion-style tower central grotto in the central tower grottThis article is monographic study of Yungang central tower grotto and itcompared with other central tower grottoes in different period, based on the main lineof Yungang central tower grotto, it analyze the Buddhism implication of Yungangtower-type central tower grotto. This article is divided into five chapters. Chapter Oneis the introduction, in this chapter, it tells the general situation of Yungang grottoes,the importance of Yungang central tower grotto in Buddhism archaeology and finearts research, the past research results and research method and innovation of thisarticle. Chapter Two is analyze the type and characteristics with archaeologicaltypology. Chapter Three divided the Yungang central tower grotto into three periodsand shows the characteristics of each stage based on the research of Chapter Two,there are inheritance stage, development stage and complete hanization stage. Abovethis, in this chapter it also discusses the age of excavate of Yungang Cave No.4.Chapter Four compare the Yungang central tower grotto and other central towergrottoes in other regions in the northern wei dynasty, through this comparison, itreveal the religious complication in why Yungang central tower grotto choosePavilion-style tower central grotto in Hanization process. Chapter Five is conclusion.This article is analyses and dressing the geological material and historicalmaterial of Yungang that based on the paradigm of art archeology article. This articleis prepared for further study of evolution rule of the central tower grotto of BuddhismCave in China and the change of popular religion in evolution process.
