American Chinese-language as one variant of chinese in a region,is impossiblefully consistent with the standard language,also known as the mandarin in all itsaspects,and this is due to district,history,politics and so on.This paper discussed thestudy on differences between American Chinese-language and mainland Putonghua.The whole paper was divided into seven chapters,the introduction presented research onthe current situation、purpose、significance and the source of this corpus and innovationpoints.Chapter One sketched the history culture and language features of the chinesesociety in American. Chapter Two to chapter Four analyzed differences between thetwo,on the basis of corpus extracted from American Chinese-language newspapers suchas Sing Tao Daily and World Journal,and comparatively analyzed from thevocabulary,grammar,language expression with Mandarin.Despite AmericanChinese-language shared more similarities than differences overall to Putonghua,but inthe analysis process,the research focus was on characteristics of AmericanChinese-language.Chapter Five was a further discussion on results of the analysis offormer chapters,analyzed causes of differences between American Chinese-languageand China mainland Chinese-language from the angle of social Linguistics.It concludedthat the differences were mainly caused by double impact of environment of largeUnited States social environment with small American Chinese communityenvironment.
