Emphasis On Modern Chinese Expression Research

“Emphasis" is one of linguistic means exployed by speakers in communication, inorder to highlight or strengthen his or her own ideas, attitudes, emotions and evaluation,or to cause people pay special attention, or to achieve communication purposeeffectively, it is a semantic-pragmatic concept. Modern Chinese emphatic expressionmeans are rich and multifarious, the means of emphasis stride across all aspects of thelanguage, from the stress, vocabulary (markers word), the word order to rhetorical.Emphasis is one of the most important pragmatic functions of laguage; emphaticexpression means could strengthen mood and sematic focus, highlight the main pointand topic. Therefore, in communication emphatic expression means often point outwhere the communication center is, and it can make people easily catch to theexpression center of the other side and communicate effectively.This article discusses the expression of emphatic means in modern Chinese fromaspect of the noumenon, distribution in sentences, language contrast and teachingChinese as a foreign language. This paper divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction, mainly introduces the object, range, purposestatus of emphatic expressions, method of research, and sources of corpus.The second part of this article discusses modern Chinese emphatic expressionsfrom comprehensive perspective on the basis of predecessors’ achievements. First, sumsup and descripts the phonetic, lexical, syntax and rhetorical expression means whichwith emphatic functions. Next, the paper discusses the distribution of emphatic meansin sentences and the use of emphatic means in different type of sentences.The third part explains deep motivation of the emergence and existence ofemphatic means from cognitive and pragmatic theory, and discusses the typologysignificance of emphatic expression by language contrast; reveal some common features in selection of emphatic expression means of Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English.The fourth part investigates the foreign students’ study of Chinese emphaticexpression means, and analyzes the cause of errors about the study of Chinese emphaticexpression means in the light of interlanguage theory and errors analysis theory. And wefound there are five reasons that errors are mainly caused by, such as complexion ofChinese emphatic expresstions, teachers’ accommondation in teaching and so on.Besides, in accordance of the cause we put forword some suggestions andcountermeasures for teaching and writing textbook.All in all, this paper explores emphatic expression means of the modern Chinese incomprehensive perspective, so as to deepen the study of emphatic empression ofChinese and offer reference for teaching Chinese as a second language.
