The Application Of Visual Symbols In Display Design

Along with the fast development of our country market economy, the profession of exhibition designing takes on a prosperous look.for one thing,,it has formed its own designing ideals and methods, for another, it also faces lots of problems to deal with urgently.this paper focuses on visual symbol which is an essential factor, Based on the application of visual symbol in current exhibition designing, the author has given a detailed Interpretation by using the historical research method, the field survey method and the inductive and deductive research method.Firstly, through the historical research method, this paper clarifies the important concepts, such as visual symbol, exhibition designing.and explain deeeply the connection between relevant essential factors and carriers as well as visual symbol and exhibition designing. Secondly, based on the research objects—the Beijing Material Expo, Suzhou Electronic Fair and Xingtai Housing Exhibitions, this paper sums up the characteristics which recipients show and the state where the designers apply the visual symbol in current exhibition designing, by using the field investigation, the questionnaire survey and the telephone survey, then the author summarizes the main problems in the exhibition designing, and the relevant causes from the three different points of view:the propagators’ designing, the diversities of exhibition information, and the interpretation of the recipients. Thirdly, the author puts forward three countermeasures about how to solve the problems occurring from the application of visual symbol in the exhibition designing. The three countermeasures include the concept of closing to the recipients, adopting designing list of visual symbol, reduceing the improper designing caused by information derogation. Finally through the concrete example—the exhibition designing of the Ryder group, this paper tests and improves the three countermeasures.The research on the application, the essence and countermeasures of the visual symbol in current exhibition designing will be helpful to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the designer’s work, to enhance the service awareness of the designers, at the same time, the Ryder group’s case of exhibition designing demonstrate amply that it is more conducive for an enterprise to demonstrate the product characteristics, the corporate image and social culture to the consumers through the exhibition designing platform.
