Since China stepped into aging society in1999, the aging population hasreached to160millions till now. China, which has the most aging population inthe world, is developing to the direction of “old aging” and “empty nest”. As onepart of the aging population, the number of “empty nesters” has reached to70millions. The problem of “empty nest” is aggravating day by day due to itsforming reason, characteristics and ethic concern. This problem is not onlybringing huge pressure to society, economy and politics; but also challengingour moral behaviors, social ethic atmosphere. Hence, it is very urgent to studythe problem of “empty nesters”.There are five researching parts of “empty nesters” in this thesis. First partis introduction; this part mainly can be divided into: The background ofchoosing topic and researching objective; researching status of China andabroad; research meaning and basic ideology and method. The thesis’s bodyhas four chapters. Chapter one narrates the connection between “agingpopulation” and “empty nesters”. This chapter mainly introduces concepts of“aging population” and “empty nesters; ethic characteristics of “empty nesters”;ethic forming reason of “empty nesters”; importance analysis of loving andcaring “empty nesters”.Chapter two analyzes the ethic demand and reason. With the data supportfrom questionnaire investigation, ethic demand of caring and loving “emptynesters” is raised; ethic demand of mentally caring “empty nesters” is raised;ethic demand of minimum living allowance for “empty nesters” is raised. Finallyreasons for these ethic demands are analyzed. Chapter three explains theethic principle of caring and loving “empty nesters”. From the angel of life,society, family and law, four ethic principles are raised: Loving and happinessprinciple; fairness and well-behavior principle; consolation and respectprinciple; justice and obligation principle.Chapter four explains the effective ethic method of “empty nesters”.Methods of solving problem for “empty nesters” are provided; Society givesmoral support and provides help to “empty nesters”; family gives love and careto “empty nesters”, law gives right support to “empty nesters”. Finally, foreignsuccessful examples are mentioned, hopefully it can be referenced by ourcountry to solve problem of “empty nesters”.
