China’s epic study started in the late1950s, at the early stage, it aimed to excavate and arrange the epics, and the systematic study was in1980s. Hani has a rich folk literature, including a large number of epic, for example the World-originate Epic of《Woguo Ceniguo》、《Twelve Nuju》、《Aose Mise》,and migratory epic of 《Hani Apei Congpopo》、《Yaniya Gazanga》.The previous studies of epic mainly focused on the world-originate mythology, and on the study of 《Hani Apei Congpopo》 from the perspective of anthropology, sociology. So the epic studies were not resultful and not systematic. From the Perspective of the Narratology, selecting the Hani world-originate epic of 《Twelve Nuju》 and migratory epic of 《Hani Apei Congpopo》 as the main objects of analysis, the study analyses the narrative art of Hani epic from the two angles of text narrative and folk narrative. This is not only a new attempt, but a new practice of narrative theory, which is of great significance to our insight into the Hani epic narrative and Hani traditions. This study includes four parts.Part one is to define the concept of the epic and review the related research results at home and abroad, and form the double-perspective of text narrative and folk narrative on the basis of previous studies.Part two is the text narrative of Hani epic. It mainly analyzes the narrative language, narrative structure and narrative perspective, and to explore the rules it presents and the reasons. As the Hani epic is oral literature survival in the Hani people’s life, concerning the characteristics of folk narrative, part three focuses on the perspectives of epic’s narrator, narrative activities, narrative text and the inheritance.Part four is the conclusion of this study. Based on the above analysis of the text of the epic narrative and epic folk narrative, the following conclusions can be made:first, Hani epic structure and language are highly stylized, and the world-originate epic is more stylized than the migratory epic; second, epic is described in accordance with the clockwise order and in a omniscient narrative perspective; third, the singer of Hani epic is the religious leader Mopi, who are the special group of hani; fourth, Hani epic narrative is a dynamic process of interaction in a relatively stable environment; fifth, the epic text presents variability, for the oral performance are restricted by various factors; sixth, the Hani epic heritage has a dynamic and stability.
