The Chinese shojo manga, after development of20years during which having been overwhelmed by Japanese predecessors, have begun to attract the local female youths with its own characteristics. Now with the development of anime market platform, through printing media and internet, more and more local female youths began to read and pay attention to it. Thus this kind of book loved by female youth is still waiting for prevailing in China. However, we can see the influence of Japanese shojo manga, more or less, in the plot, drawing style, and storyboarding skill. It’s not practical to say that the local shojo manga will own its honest readers, take an important role or prevail gradually, without special charm different from Japanese counterparts. So, it’s urgent and important for the local shojo manga to escape from the shadow of Japan imitators by cultivating the sense of identification with national culture and aesthetic ability for Chinese youths in their relaxation, and, building a different spiritual paradise for them.Based on the collected materials, the new manga researches now in China are mostly concentrating on the production tutorial (including comic human structure, movement, clothes, character setting, scenario, script writing, writing and drawing of storyboards, presentation skill of black and white manga and color manga); source, development and current status of Japanese new manga; Japanese shoujo manga and female literature; the shock and influence to Chinese youth from Japanese manga; research on Hong Kong and Taiwan manga; introduction to the development of Chinese new manga, etc. The book, Shojo Manga, Female Author and Japanese written by Yang Wei published by Ningxia People’s Press in2005, is one of the rare works on Japanese shoujo manga, but it pays more attention on the concepts of romance and family, bisexuality, hermaphrodite, youth’s love and lesbians, not talking about aestheticism or national spirit. The topics like how to express Chinese national spirit and aestheticism in new manga, how to remove the misunderstanding of parents and teachers to the manga which is not pulp books wasting the precious time of the youth, or the producing thought and work analysis of Chinese excellent cartoonists, appear only in short reviews and informal essays, but not in academic researches. This article tries to summarize the two-side influence to Chinese shojo manga from Japanese counterparts through analyzing and discussing about the types, drawing style and skill of Japanese shojo manga. The conclusion is "the Chinese shojo manga shall try harder and explore independently according to its own national characteristics, under the circumstance where Japanese shojo manga prevails in Chinese readers". Moreover, through the analysis toward the local excellent manga, the article also discusses about how to plant the traditional culture (national features, aestheticism, and literary art) plus the current trends, into the local shoujo manga, making it a research material with some reference value which is more thoughtful, interesting and identifiable.
