Since1990. the religious policy in Mongolia faced obvious changes, leading to developmental changes in its religion. Research on the religious development in Mongolia at present has important significances for us to understand the recent development in world religion, to broaden our view, to draw lessons from the experience of Mongolia that they accumulates when practicing their religious policy, and it is also helpful in fostering Religious Culture Exchange between China and Mongolia, dealing with the related issues and promoting healthy development of religious culture. In my research paper, Mongolia Dashichoiling monastery is my research object. I presented the history of Dashichoiling monastery and studied the current situation of the monastery and its social function that it is having today by using religious theory and sociological research method.This thesis is composed of four parts:Introduction, main body of the thesis, and Conclusion. The Introduction contains research subject, the reason for choice of the subject, research objectives and methods. Chapter1presents the historical development of Dashichoiling monastery which includes the historical background for the construction of the monastery, main ceremonial organizations and the reason for its destruction.Chapter2provides the analysis on the present situation of the monastery, focusing on reconstruction and zasang, monks, ritual rules, economic operation etc. In chapter3,I analyze the research materials by using relevant theories and set forth the monastery’s social function and current problems, summarizes the entire contents of this thesis. Conclusion presents my basic view.
