The Book Of Songs Of Women In The World

The Book of Songs is the first collection of poems in the history of ancient China, representing the poetry from Western Zhou Dynasty to the middle of Spring and Autumn Period, which is a brilliant starting point of Chinese history of poetry. It displays the historic scene between Shang Dynasty and the Spring and Autumn Period from all aspects of multi-angle and multi-level. This paper will study the group of female characters’ living conditions, behaviors, mental activities and spiritual worlds, so as to study and explore the social status of women of that era, to fully grasp the original appearance of the women’s lives and the female spiritual world in Book of Songs era. This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction. The second chapter bases on the scenes of female characters, to classify the females in Book of Songs images from the multiple dimensions of females’ activities and understand the living conditions of women.The third chapter summarizes the representative female characters, in order to explore the rich ideology of females in that age. The fourth chapter, according to social, historical, cultural background and specific works, to explore the situation and social status of the females at that time. The fifth chapter is the concluding part of the paper, concluds that The Book of Songs not only reflects the true appearance of ancient women’s lives, and through the fresh feminine figures, reflects the female emotions and ideologies with distinctive features.
