This study is mainly focused at Indonesian students intonation issueswhile learning Chinese language. There are a large number ofIndonesian Chinese, but only a few of them can speak Chinese well.Moreover, in the aspect of intonation still remains inadequate. Theseintonation issues are caused by the influence from their nativelanguage and dialect.Through some research and analysis on current Indonesian studentsacquisition of Chinese language. It is considered that in the study ofChinese language structure, intonation is also important. If an intonationis pronounced wrongly, it will soon be heard out. Intonation is one of themany difficulties in the process of teaching Chinese as foreignlanguage.Currently author is in the process of practicing teaching, amidst theprocess of lectures discovered that Indonesian students (especiallybeginners) do have a problem grasping Chinese intonation. They arefine with the first and fourth tones, but a distinct error emerges whenpronouncing the second and third tone. For example:“我是” w' shì ispronounced as wó shì. Basically, a single morpheme pronunciation isnot that troublesome, however pronouncing a complete sentence isanother problem.This essay’s content examines Indonesian students intonationproblem, comprehend each places error biases and their cause, thenmakes learning strategies and suggestions for related problems.
