Task In College English Network Course Teaching Design Research

Abstract：With the development of information technology in education and anemergence of increased demand for distance education, online foreign language teachinghas been growing up. Online course is an important part of the development of onlineforeign language education. It is necessary to blend the various foreign language teachingapproaches as information and network technologies develop. Task-based languageteaching has been proved to be able to play an effective role in motivating students andhelping them stay motivated in learning English. It also works in developing the overalllanguage skills, which is well used in classroom. Therefore, it is of great significance tostudy the application of task-based language teaching (TBLT) approach into online coursedesigning in theory and practice.There are six sections in this dissertation:Chapter One introduces the background, current situation, purpose and significance ofthe research, and the methodologies of the research.Chapter Two reviews the theory of TBLT, including its definition, characteristics ofthe task and categories. Then the procedures of designing tasks are presented.Chapter Three describes the types of English online courses and the instruction modes,and finds something about current construction of language online courses based on theanalysis of a case of online course in the design of learning activities and the instructionmode. Then, the orientation of TBLT in online language courses in China is stated.Chapter Four proposes the ways of task design and the task-based learningenvironment, based on the theory and practice of online language learning.Chapter Five introduces the design of a sample course. A proof test is conducted,through which some feedbacks are revealed to improve the design of tasks.Chapter Six summarizes the research and suggests further studies in future.
