Haruki Murakami, as the most creative and influential writer in Japan, is always followed by the readers as well as international scholars. Lot of scholars who have researches his works all find that his works are influenced by western culture and the strong post-modern color revealed in his works. Those studies have got a lot of achievements. But overview these works, the relationship between Haruki Murakami’s novel and the film culture rarely be attended. Even if there are a few works involved in, they just talk about film adaptation, but rarely mention the cinematic thinking he used in the creating process. The techniques of combining the film are the key factor of the works’charming style.This thesis focuses on the cinematic narrative, and discusses with Haruki Murakami’s representative novels, then analyzes how the "cinematic imagination" presented in the text. And arguments the reason why the unique charm of literature through reflecting the pros and cons of the film culture in Haruki Murakami’s works. Meanwhile, it is also can be learned from Haruki Murakami that the literature should keep their own literary and integrate of diverse artistic skills as well as advantages, in order to maintain its vitality in the impact of visual culture and popular consumer culture.Literature and film belong to two different artistic fields. It suits to the cross-cultural researching scope when study from these two aspects, so there is a wide range of research space. And it is easier to draw new results and valuably to be researched.In the fist part, it has elaborated the significances and reasons why to choose this topic, and has introduced the recent researching situation. Based on the widely disseminated of his works, it is very hard to collect all relevant information together, so the situation of author’s own country as the representation is the only foreign research to be chosen. In the second chapter, it is introduced the author himself and his works briefly. The third chapter, as the main body of the thesis, is illustrated the fact of the impact of the film narrative to literature through describing the definition of "cinematic imagination", and the changeable relationship between rationalize film and literature. Then, it is analyzed the cinematic imagination flashed in every part of the works from multiple perspectives. In the forth chapter, it is specifically analyzed the ways how the cinematic imagination narrative style is formed into through the author’s creative background and contemporary Japanese culture as well as author’s preference for movies.Finally, the root why literature still remains unique charm under the impact of the film culture can be summed up through reflecting the failures in the translating his works to the screen. Meanwhile, it is also reflected the mystery of his success which is that literature should adhere to its most essential things when it is learned from other arts, and should achieve its own transformation and breakthrough through playing inclusive spirit. Literature can withstand the challenges and distribute greater charm as well as keep fresh in the river of history only if it can accord the above ways.
