Jiang Guangci was the pioneer of Chinese revolutionary literature. In the late1920s, his literary works were adored by many readers in the waves of revolutionary literature and thousands of left-wing writers imitated his style. The publishing industry triggered a startling transformation in succession and blew the strong wind of "GuangChi", which were influenced by his works. As a kind of literary form, it is not only relevant to the background of the time and political orientation, but also to the psychology of readers, the content of works, and the market consciousness of the author.This thesis analyzes the causes of Jiang Guangci’s best-selling revolutionary works based on three perspectives:acceptance of the readers, understanding of the works, choices of the authors.This thesis consists of four chapters. In chapter one, it introduces the popularity of revolutionary literature and the phenomenon that Jiang Guangci’s works became the best-selling. The popularity of revolution literature resulted in the domestic political situation after1927and the international proletariat development at the same time, and the development of revolution literature movement.Chapter two explores the acceptance psychology of readership at the time. In literary activities, readers play an important role. If the work cannot be accepted by readers, it means that its artistic value is difficult to be achieved. After the revolution of1924, the readers’political cultural psychology and revenge attitude are reflected in Jiang Guangci’s works to some extent.Chapter three explains the charm of Jiang Guangci’s works, including the content which reflects the time, the story mode of "revolution plus love" and its artistic form. Jiang Guangci’s works of revolutionary literature reflect the color of the time, romance and diversified narrative styles, which had great impact on readers.Chapter four focuses on the conscious choice of the author. Influenced by Shanghai media, Jiang Guangci, who had market consciousness and writing attitude, realized the commercial and spiritual achievements.
