This paper selects Liang Bin’s novel "Red Flag" as the research object, mainly researching the changes of its version. The paper sorts the changes of each version, summarizes the reasons for such changes, from the pedigree of the established version. Combined with Liang Bin’s creation and life experience, it studies the writing process of the "Red Flag". The "Red Flag", written painstakingly by Liang Bin, published in11menstrual China Youth Press in1957, caused a great response and became the "red classics" of the "Seventeen Years" literature. This paper is mainly divided into six parts.Introduction this part mainly introduces the current situation and meaning of the version research of "Red Flag". Guo Wenjing, Zhang Li, Tian Yingxuan three scholars studied the problem of the "Red Flag" version. But their research just focused on how many versions there are, and their results are different. This paper attempts to determine the version of the pedigree for "Red Flag" resolves the chaotic situation of versions, through text analysis, researches the reasons of the "Red Flag" version changes. The first chapter studies the creation process of "Red Flag" and red classic status. The writing process of "Red Flag", is inseparable with Liang Bin’s life experiences, anti-cut head tax movement and the Second Division of the student movement and other major events that Liang Bin experienced are all written in the"Red Flag ", which constitute the basic framework of the "Red Flag ". Liang Bin, firstly wrote the "Red Flag" in1935, but due to lack of experience of life, he only wrote a short story. He secondly wrote it in1942, thirdly in1946, the last two-times’writing again ran aground for a variety of reasons. Until1953, Liang Bin had a vacation in Temple of Azure Clouds in Beijing, and really began to write "Red Flag". In November1957, the "Red Flag" was published by China Youth Press. It experienced during the past18years from the first writing to the final publication."Red Flag" depicts the historical events of suffering farmers in the twenties and thirties in last century, and truly records the survival lowest working people’miserable living condition and their unfortunate fate, and it can be called an epic work. After its publication, the book had a broad impact, and determined its classic status in the contemporary literature. Only when the "Red Flag" itself has literary value, does the study of the corresponding version have its value. The second chapter explored the several versions of "Red Flag", their publication time and publishers’names. Through previous studies, and my query data,"Red Flag" had four versions:The first edition published by Youth press in November1957, the second edition published by Human and Social Science in September1959, the third edition published by Youth press in1966, the Fourth Edition published by Youth press in April1978. This clarifies the versions of "Red Flag". And it prepares to study "Red Flag" versions changes and its causes of changes for the next chapter. The third Chapter studies the changes of "Red Flag" four versions. Compared with four versions of "Red Flag", collate the larger changes in the various versions.9parts mainly changed, such as the time when Zhu Laozhong went hometowns, candied red bird’s event, the change that Zhu Laozhong recognizes our party, changes of Zhu Laozhong’wishes, Zhu Laozhong’ reaction after Zhang Jiaqing was shot, change of Yan zhihe, the changes of Xiao wei’final outcome, changes of route, and critical the rashness thinking. From the four versions of "Red Flag", I found the differences in each version. Comparatively speaking, the first version published by Youth press in November1957described more simple and real, Humanities Edition in1959and the Youth press Edition in1966compared no change in content to the first version published by Youth press, but just made some adjustments in the punctuation and paragraph structure. The biggest change is the fourth edition in1978, and it made some delete and plus in the content, and in terms of the main characters, made a overstating.Chapter IV studies the reasons for the "Red Flag" version changes. According to the changes of the four versions in the last chapter, it summed up the reason for the change of "Red Flag" versions. It polished the text, improved the art, and made more political norms. The changes in the1978fourth edition were affected by the political ideas in "Seventeen Years" period and the official intent. The change process of "Red Flag " version, reflected a modified process. In this process, the authors modify the work timely, to comply with the prevailing literary norms. After the founding of new China, the literature took the important task of summarizing and re-building the national imagination. Mainstream literature pursuit the grand narrative to seek new China’s development in the historical dimension."Red Flag" started in the revolutionary discourse system and the principles of Socialist Realism, it reflected the advanced force that represents the trend of social development, under the leadership of the hero, struggled against the backward forces, and got the final victory. Liang Bin emphasized the fact that only under the leadership of the Communist Party of China; the Chinese peasant revolution can turn the tables through his works.Summary; by the comparison of four versions of "Red Flag",we can conclude that The content changes of1978fourth edition are a failure. It improved the images of Zhu Laozhong, and Yan Zhihe, but did not meet the character’s development. From the perspective of literary and artistic development, in the first edition in November1957, the characters images of Zhulao Zhong and Yan Zhihe, are consistent with the character development, achieving the perfect combination of authenticity and artistry. The national style and national boldness of vision that Liang Bin has been pursuing, have been already realized in the first edition. The ultimate goal of shaping the peasant hero and praising the peasant hero has been realized, which has a profound impact. Therefore, the "Red Flag" published by Youth press in November1957can best embody level of Liang Bin’ artistic creation...
