Kazuo Ishiguro is one of the most famous contemporary British novelists,who also with Salman Rushdie and Naipaul as the Best British Immigrant Writers. He grown up with great culture differences between Britain and Japan,but he is more interested in writing an international subject. Through his works, his elegant writing style made him the winner of Booker Prize which is the most prestigious prize in England. These years, his novels become popular in China. In2011, five novels of him have been published.The whole thesis is composed of three pars. In order to give a brief survey of Ishiguro’s personal experience and his novels. From subject to the content, all of his six novels took a great span, but all through his books, the theme is lonely journey, the tragic fate of the people who experienced the world war, and the childhopd memory. This paper will explore Ishiguro’s artistic pursuit and fiction text to reveal the features of his Trauma Writing.Chapter1:The Cultural Identity of Kazuo Ishiguro and his works. By focusing on the description of Kazuo Ishiguro’s experience and his novels, in order to discuss the importance of the cultural identity on him.Chapter2:Through close reading of the A PALE VIEW OF HILLS, try to analysis the tragic fate of the hero, and to discuss the themes of loneliness, memory, and the way of his trauma writing.Chapter3:Comparing the text of A PALE VIEW OF HILLS and AN ARTIST OF THE FLOATING WORLD, try to go a step further to discuss the trauma writing in his work. Through the analysis of the concepts and structure of Ishiguro’s writing, try to point out the aesthetic influence under classic literature from both Britain and Japan.Conclusion:Summarizes the trauma writing in Ishiguro’fiction. Trauma writing is both a narrative form and a poetic concept. With the loss of the memories and search for the forgotten memories, the stories conferred aesthetic features of trauma writing. It helps many Chinese writers to discover the new narrative space in their writing of historic memory.
