From three perspectives, namely, language, writing and body, my dissertation discusses le neutre which is the core category in the late thought of Roland Barthes. Starting with the perspective of language, debunking the logic beneath the turning of le neutre in Barthes’ structuralism and semantics. In this part discussing the reason that Barthes give up structuralism and semantics and analyzing the influence from Bakhtin and Derrida. Secondly, Analyzing the theory and literary criticism of writing zero-degree. In this part, discussing Barthes’ two works:S/Z and roland barthes by roland barthes. Finally, focusing on the body which is the basis of le neutre, such as, Zambinella and De Quincey. Demonstrating the resistance of truth and deconstruction of logo-centrism in Barthes’ thought. As a general category, le neutre is a underlying concept for Barthes to turn to post-structuralism, which contains a sense of defiance and nihilism at the age of deconstructionism. |
