Body has been a high-profile topic for centuries. With thedevelopment of human history, the value of the body has beenconstantly changing. In China, since the1990s, under the impactof Western feminist theory and consumer culture,“body” hasbecome one of the key words in female literary creation andcriticism, especially Helene Cixous’s “Body Writing” Strategyprovides a legal basis for the Chinese personal, women experiencefictions. Women use their own bodies as weapons and issue a boldchallenge to the male-centered culture by restoring the truefeelings of the female body. With the popularity of “Body Writing”concept, privatization “Body Writing” has rapidly become a frenzywriting of desire, even developedinto“lower body” writing. However, in the “Body Writing” frenzy, lively surface cannot hidethe defeat posture of female writing, the body has gradually becomea place of enjoyment and entertainment. In this paper, I use feminist criticism as a theoretical background, select some representative women writers since1990s. By analyzingthe characteristics of body writing in their works, I can figureout the break points and limitations of women writers in the newperiod, and then analyze the differences between Chinese “Bodywriting” and Western “Body Writing”. This paper consists ofthree parts: the first part mainly focuses on the differenthistorical background between Chinese “Body writing” and Western“Body Writing” and make clear the changes of body value in Chineseand Western history. The second part starts from concrete text. Fromresisting male sight and subverting patriarchal order to explainwomen “Body Writing” to make a tough break-through for harshpatriarchal repression. The third part focuses on analysis thedistress of China’s “Body Writing” features and the causes ofthe challenge reduced to tease. And finally try my best to furtherquestion the prospect of “Body Writing”.
