Research On Chinese Painting In The Stone

Stone is an indispensable subject In Chinese painting. With its unique charm of simple, sturdy, wisdom and strength, stone is always the favorite by painters at different time. And considering there’s no fixed shape for stones, painting them is comparably free. They are most conducive for the painters to show their painting skills and convey their artistic conception.This article mainly seeks and analyzes the stone-painting style and influence of various painting factions from two aspects:the Chinese landscape painting and flower and bird painting. For landscape painting, stone is an important part of the main structure, and also reflecting the momentum and component of the picture, thus it should be painted on a distant view with grasping the whole trend. Here, I’m consulting to the panting style evolution as the axis, by analyzing the representative landscape stone characteristics to expound the impact bringing by different social background and painters’spirit. on the contrary, to show flower and bird painting on stone, the close-range images depicted is needed, which is totally different from landscape painting. I did lots of research on the stones appeared in Ren Bonian, Wu Changshuo and Pan Tianshou’s (three well-known painting masters in China) works. They all reflect the artists’ unique personality and spirit charm. Summing up the above law of creation can surely be used as a reference to my future creative learning.
