History Of The Old City The First Curtilage Landscape Restoration

The residential gardens located in the old town are legacy and witness of Chinese traditional garden art, they are special historical and cultural heritage with irreplaceable value of history, culture, art, and science. They reflect city cultural and history. Many residential gardens are Officially Protected Historic Sites. As the international historical heritage protection movement growing vigorously, the protection and restoration to them would contribute a lot to China’s historical heritage protection movement.This paper starts from the basic research of residential gardens and interprets its concepts as well as its value system. In this paper I also put forward the support theory of residential garden protection and restoration. After analyze the progress of international historical heritage protection, I take Nanjing Hujia Garden as an example to relate and analyze the protection of residential gardens which are located in old town. Whereas all these mentioned, I insist that we shouldn’t repair the old as the old but save the ancient architecture and build new ones.The study results show that we should make use of the residential garden to inherit the cily history and culture. Residential gardens also embody regional characteristics of the urban green space system.I hope my research can be a new thought to residential garden protection and finally achieves the goal that residential garden can be protected effectively, urban green space characteristics can be promoted and at the same time, urban history and culture can be inherited.
