"Uncertainty" is the essential characteristic of post-modernism, it is a complex category which is made up of deformation, diversity, deconstruction and many other concepts. In the post-modern literature, the uncertainty is mainly reflected in the theme, image, plot and language and so on. In the film works the uncertainty performances as collages of contents, fictional scene, multiple narrative and so on. Christopher Nolan, the new British director, who has shown its strong narrative ability and talent with its seven works only. Its works all reflect significant characteristic of uncertainty both in contents and narrative. Those films not only express intricate aesthetic of space but also make us known the director’s deep thinking on society. The formation of this characteristic in Nolan’s films is affected by the impact of postmodernism and also depends on the director’s unique personal style.
