The Comparative lexicon between Chinese and English is an important aspect in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language and it is difficult when foreign students study and use. The different ways in expressing comparison of Indo-European languages and modern Chinese have their own ways. The former expresses lexicon by suffix variation and the latter expresses lexicon by some structural types in lexicon level. Oversea students often make a lot of errors in Chinese words. The characteristics of errors in lexicon are followed by these: foreign students prefer to use simple and explicit lexical structure rather than complex ones because they often ignore the implicit semantic relation and pragmatic limitations when they study and use Chinese words; they do not apply proper degree correctly or grasp and master various kinds of words in Chinese. Last but not least errors of comparative lexicon which they use take on every acquisition in different period. The thesis collects many errors from foreign students using Chinese words. The comparative words which are mentioned in the thesis refer to lexicon containing words or expressions like "comparative words in Etymology","comparative words in formation ","comparative words in lexical meaning" and so on. According to the characteristics of the improper words that foreign students use, we summed up three kinds of improper words. The thesis, based on the Theory of Interlanguage, according to the former and present achievements which help to study our thesis and learn Chinese lexicon, systematically and thoroughly analyses and studies the reasons for the every error category from these perspectives:syntax, semantics, pragmatics, foreign students’ mother tongues, their ways of study, textbooks, teaching and so on. Lastly,according to the error analysis of foreign students, we offer some suggestions and plans of solving problems and teaching methods have been made in Chinese words. They can meet our needs in the Teaching Chinese as a second language class. Meanwhile they make the students master various kinds of Chinese words and improve the teaching quality.
