As one of the most significant sentence patterns in modern Chinese, the comparative sentence is used frequently especially in teaching Chinese as a second language. When we communicate with the foreign students in daily life and during the process of teaching them Chinese, we can notice that there are many problems, such as mixing two patterns of comparative sentence or putting the negative words in wrong places, and so on. Based on the study of comparative sentences and Chinese teaching, this essay presents a large number of error sentences in foreign students’learning process, aiming to analyze them systematically from three aspects-grammar, pragmatics and semantics, find the reasons of these errors and put forward some suggestions. We hope to reduce the errors made by foreign students and help them study comparative sentences effectively, therefore improving the quality of Chinese teaching. This essay is composed of four parts. The first part puts forward the motivation and significance of the topic, including approaches and range of the research.Based on the collected materials, the second part analyses five patterns comparative sentences from four aspects-comparative objects, methods, points and results. The third part demonstrates the causes of errors from the aspects of Negative Transfer of Mother Tongue, Negative Transfer of Target Language, learning strategies, teaching materials, and etc.The last part puts forward the corresponding countermeasures from the aspects of material choosing, teacher’s qualifications and teaching strategies, and etc.
