Image works can tell a story and convey the emotion with a variety of means of art, and using color is one of the indispensable. Reasonable use of color, can make the plot of the film more clear, and more full of emotion. On the animation works, the use of color is particularly important. The colors of Excellent animation works are often excite people’s mind, and it constitute a unique artistic style of animation. Arnheim says,"colors is better than shapes to convey emotions, the sunset and the blue Mediterranean sea convey more than any shapes."①thus, colors are very important in animation.Coloring in animation is penetrating more to the inner world of the characters. Kandinsky says,"usually, coloring affects the heart directly. Colors are like keys, eyes are like sound hammer, while artist is the heart of the piano. Touching the keys, the artist can make the heart respond."②so the colorful natural world the society can offer beauty of colors, which is the goal of all animation artists. This essay aims to study how color distinguishes time, and convey emotions in animation, and how coloring in animation works makes animation develop for the better.
