Informative value and aesthetic value are two main elements equally significant for literature language. As a major branch of literature, most fictions are written both informatively and aesthetically. To make good translation, literary translators ought to reproduce the beauty of the source texts as well as their contents. This paper suggests that literary language consists of four classes of meanings:the conceptual meaning, the nonverbal meaning, the structural meaning and the rhetorical meaning. Literary translators are advised to analyze the four meanings of the source texts and convey them in the target texts so that the translation can match the original works. |
