On The Methods And Strategies Of Literary English Translation

Literary translation is an advanced art form and a kind of artistic translation. Compared with the ordinary translation, it has its own unique language features and translation standards. During literary translation, the translator should not only convey the basic information of the original text accurately but also grasp its artistic style and thought firmly. Apart from that, the translator should also use another literary language to reinvent the very artistic image and style of the original work appropriately and completely so that the TL readers can derive the same pleasures and inspiration as the original readers.After giving an analysis of the English version of the novel Notes on discovered principles, this thesis briefly introduces the linguistic features and aesthetic principles of literary language. By drawing on the mainstream translation theories, the author, through concrete examples, gives an account of the common translation methods in the translation process from the perspectives of word, sentence, text, style and culture. In addition, the author also analyzes the English version and makes his own comments on some language points.
