Li Yindu, a phonologist of Qing Dynasty, was good at writing Poetry and rhapsody. He inherited Gu Yanwu’s point of view in the ancient phonology study and was considered the successor of Gu Yanwu. So far, no one has studied deeply and systematically on his phonology. Taking the book of "Han Poetry Phonetic Notation" and "Ancient and Modern Rhyming" as the study objects, this paper digs the phonological materials of the two books and summarizes his achievements and limitations on phonology study especially the ancient phonology study. Hereinafter, this paper will discuss mainly from the following four aspects. First, the style and nature of words rhyme in "Han Poetry Phonetic Notation" Second, the gains and losses of Li’s researches on the rhyme of songs of Han Dynasty; Third, his ancient rhyme division and words ascription; Four, his contributions to Tang Dynasty poetic rhyme study.Focusing on four aspects motioned in the above, this paper contains four parts:The introduction reviews the summary, evaluation and further study on the achievement of ancient phonological during Qing Dynasty. In this part, later generation’s research status on Li Yindu’s phonology, the significance, content and research methods of this paper are all explained. At last, the life experience and works of Li Yindu will also be introduced.Chapter one makes a detailed study on "Han Poetry Phonetic Notation", including analyzing its style, completely counting the phonetic notation material, inducing the content, style and phonology feature of phonetic notation. According to the rhyme characteristic reflected by phonetic notation we study the theory of his ancient rhyme10points. In the end, we summarize the effort of his study on Han Dynasty poem rhyme and rhyme-style.Chapter two makes a deeper analysis on ancient phonological achievements of "Ancient and Modern Rhyming" and rhyming research of Tang poems. In this chapter, we firstly introduce the book style and the writing process. Then, we explain the rhyme and normalized word of "Ancient and Modern Rhyming" and make a rhyme comparison between Li Yindu and Gu Yanwu, Duan Yucai and Jiang Yougao. Lastly, we elaborate Li Yindu’s study on the rhyme Tang Poems.Chapter three mainly makes an overall evaluation on Li Yindu’s gains and losses on ancient phonological on the basis of the previous two chapters. We summarize his textual research achievements on the ancient pronunciation about Han Dynasty poetry, study achievements on Han Dynasty poetic rhyme and his contribution to inheritance and maintenance of Gu Yanwu’s theory of phonology. Afterwards, we affirm his scientific thought, researching method as well as the Qing Dynasty Park school fashion reflected in the study. At the same time we also evaluates the deficiencies, including phonetic defects, the study on the Han Dynasty poetic unidentified the sound changes, and proving the ancient rhyme with Tang Dynasty poems and so on.
