As an important member of the sixth generation Chinese director, Jia Zhangke is also a famous word-renowned film director. He offered us many valuable films with a strong sense of social responsibility and a clear awareness of the humanities of the intellectual. Documentary aesthetic style is the most prominent features of his films’ style. His works heritage the word cinema documentary aesthetic features and combines the unique Chinese culture. After more than ten years’unremitting exploration and practice, he writes a fictional or real living space with visual language full of his personal style. However, his works with full documentary style is not the complete replication of the real life, the perfect combination of documentary and fiction is the real life’s better performance. More and more obvious virtual elements appear in Jia Zhangke’s post-films, but they do not undermine its overall aesthetic style, but pointing to a common purpose with the fictional and documentary’s complement and mastery:to show the real individuals and the real social of contemporary China. Jia Zhangke achieved the breakthrough in his documentary aesthetic style, and completed a magnificent transformation. His writing has become more and more mature and plump and pushed the documentary aesthetic to a new level. He treats the film making with enthusiasm and caring attitude and always sticks to his aesthetic style and creative ideas; he becomes a shinning star in china film history. Jia Zhangke’s films not only have a deep concern to the society and individuals but also a persistent exploration to the art of film itself. We see the unity of the responsibility of both the human sense and art in his films. His insistence to the documentary aesthetic and success in his films has an important inspiration in Chinese films’making.
