This essay mainly talks about the current situation, reason and problems related to the oil painting of Xinjiang Province by refering to the artworks exhibited in the’the First Contemporary Art Biennale of China·Xingjiang’held in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region on August8th,2012,Here I want to talk about something in which the interaction between the artists of the interior of China and Xinjiang will be involved. The developmet of the oil painting in Xinjiang Province is nowbe at a standstill owing to the conservatism of the local artists. As a result, they seldom think about the language and creativity of oil painting and was limited by folk themes. Moreover, they lack the spirit of exploring and are pure painting-language-conservatives.Generally.they would paint by coping a style rather than try to make breakthroughs in the field of traditional skills and at the same time, was restricted by the Soviet mode. They think that is the’pure’oil painting and thus they will be commited by the public. In my opinion,Xinjiang artists should follow the way of Chinese oil painting by learning from the old generation, from whom the spirit and skill will be got.Firstly, the personal painting method should be built,no matter what kind of skills are used and the bad popularity of style addiction shoud be discarded.Secondly, artists should keep in contact and take more actional practices. Finally,in order to achieve a wider eyeview and personal way to express themselves, they should pay more attention to what they need.
