Peasant painting is a peculiar phenomenon in art history of the PRC。It was created in the late1950s and was renamed as modern folk painting in the1980s。The special of peasant painting lies in that the creator is the peasant but the sponsor and the leader is the government。There are two attributes on it:the rural perspective and the Official nature。This article believes that, peasant painting, which takes resources from the tradition of Chinese neoteric culture and Chinese folk art, is an experiment in the course of the construction of socialism art。This paper divides into three chapters in chronological order to describe the three stages of peasant painting in development through the questions raised by three keywords。There are not only three development stages about the ebb and flow of peasant painting but also three ways of the experiments on socialism art。Through comb the development course of peasant painting this text tries to investigate the complicated relations between the rural perspective and the government function and to seek the real cultural heritage behind peasant painting which can be regarded as a cultural phenomenon/type of art/social practice。...
