Different dynasties of Chinese paid much attention to the didactic,"One moral,one custom" has been the common ideals of rulers and intelligentsia all the time. Withespecially the great wheel of the history forward to Ming dynasty which is a transitionperiod,social environment have new changes.The ruler,when in the face of socialchanges,hope that through the education maintain absolute authority of Confucianethics and Control the social order develop to his own ideal goal.The enlightenment in the Ming dynasty,especially local,have to mention a veryimportant class which is gentry class.The development of the imperial cause in Mingdynasty make tens of thousands gentry which live in village society, keep the naturalrelation with government and many village people.Under the influence of the Mingdynasty government valuing enlightenment, or for expanding their authority,orbecause family benefits,or due to shoulder the mission of Confucianindoctrination,gentry actively involved in the indoctrination’s career,and have animportant position in the folk enlightenment of the Ming dynasty.In the content of enlightenment,gentry pay special attention to the cooperationwith the Ming dynasty.Publicity and interpretation of “Tai zu sheng yu” andpopularization of law in the folk society always are the main content ofenlightenment.Gentry hope that through this measure of combining the law with themorality to guide the public behavior,and maintain the good village social order.Dueto the gentry mostly is the learner and practitioner of Confucian culture, and ethicalrelationship always is an important part of Confucianism,ethical culture is animportant content of the enlightenment of the gentry.In addition to gentry also usemorality books and religious thoughts for persuading enlightenment,and to cultivate agood social atmosphere.In the folk enlightenment of the gentry,career choice is acontent which not ignore.Especially in the living profession,Ming dynasty presents anew trend, that is the attention for business.In the form of enlightenment,gentry of the Ming dynasty wield a variety ofmeans make the indoctrination’s contents into the every aspect of the folk society.and according to the different occasions and civilized people adjust measures to adapt thedifferent conditions.In family enlightenment, the gentry can through familyadmonitions,family rules,pedigree of a clan and ancestral hall.And when theenlightenment expand to the whole village society,through the way interactionbetween officials and gentry, and scholastic education to implement the enlightenmentcontent.Because most of the gentry live in home village or town, they moreunderstand the needs of the general public,so popular literature,such as drama andfiction, is an important way of enlightenment.In addition, the gentry of the Mingdynasty also use the way of charity and charity and disaster relief for enlightenment inthe folk society.Can say it is the modal diversification of the gentry’s enlightenment,which make gentry occupy an important position in folk enlightenment of the Mingdynasty.The gentry’s enlightenment engender profound influence for the civil society, themost main including the construction of local order,the diversity of career choice andthe rifeness of filial conduct and chastity. These fully explain that the gentry’senlightenment on the one hand stick up for the traditional ethics,on the other handgentry sensitively perceive the change of society,and therefore take new measures toadapt to social change. The enlightenment in the Ming dynasty as the product of thetraditional society,the specific content of enlightenment is has passed, but diversity ofthe folk enlightenment form and idealization of the pursuit of personality still canprovide reference for the contemporary moral construction.
