From2010to2011, disputes between China, Vietnam and the Philippines were intensified andbecame a hot topic of regional security and even world peace.In this dissertation, the author took the disputes as a case to illustrate how did China’smainstream media, regarded as the voice of China, speak well to translate and convey accuratelyChina’s stance and policy, to foreign countries.The author sampled, compared and analyzed the reports of Chinese mainstream media,typically from the state news agency of Xinhua and the Communist Party of China’s officialnewspaper, the People’s Daily, concerning the South China Sea issue from2010to2011.Based on the subsequent conclusion that China’s mainstream media, by various means,represented China’s foreign policy and stance accurately in general to the domestic andinternational opinion markets with correspondent effects and feedbacks, the author probed into thereasons of why those media would play such a role of signal transmitter and what are theiradvantages and shortcomings.
