Migrant Workers Have To Choose And The Related Policy Analysis

Along with the development of urbanization and modernization, urban and ruralbarriers gradually loosened, a large number of surplus rural labor force into the city,formed a new group the migrant workers. According to statistics, nowadays, ourcountry rural migrant workers are close to250-million, the job they do cannot beignored.Migrant workers have mostly in young adults, they faced the marriage, fertility andreproductive choices, which are difficult, that is in the city or return to his hometown.This paper takes migrant workers in Beijing as an example and the life course theoryas analysis theory and research tool, using the qualitative research method, throughthe half open in-depth interviews. Explored and analyzed the choice of reproductiveon the migrant workers.The text is divided into six parts: the first part is the introduction, including thebackground of the problem and the significance of the study, mainly introduced theresearch goal and its significance. The second part is the review about previousresearches, including the migrant workers to family, social insurance, city into andfamily values as well as the life course theory. The third part is the research design,mainly introduces relating concepts, angle of study and the research methods. Thefourth part introduces problems which the migrant workers facing when choosingbirth place, including micro level of individual, family income and social networkinterruption etc. The medium level is the lower rate of investment in human resources.The macroscopic level is to block social urbanization development. The fifth partanalyses the reasons of their choices, from the family idea, economic status, socialinsurance, the family support respectively. The six part proposes suggestions frommigrant worker individual, social insurance and social support system.This research mainly puts forward two ideas:First, most migrant workers choose their hometown as birth place, which bringsproblems to themselves and society, including interruption of personal and familycareer, decrease of family income, increases on family instability etc.Second, the selection of migrant workers contains their active consideration, but also affected by social environment. The main reasons are personal sense of family,future life expectations, the unaffordable cost of birth, insurance subsidies and thehuman and economic from family.Third, authority related should increase income and the coverage of birth insurance,set up social assisting system of migrant workers through making effectivesuggestions and rules.
