The research on criminal biology once excluded by the theoretical system which emphasizes on socialist ideology re-attracts the attention of those scholars. It’s the priority to study more on fundamentals of criminal biology and underline biological methods in the research of criminal causes.The first chapter of this paper introduces the root of the research on criminal biology. It analyzes and evaluates the historical positive function of the yield of criminal biology to the changes in the study of criminology and innovations in methodology mainly from the background of this yield. As a symbol when Lombroso proposed the theory about criminal anthropology, this history is divided into three processes. Then it focuses on the review of criminal biological research and evaluates the method, results and historical functions of each process.Chapter 2 summarizes the related researches in the field of genetics, psychiatry, pathology, biochemistry, computer science theory, physical theory and others done by criminal biology researchers. These research results represent the main successes abroad over the past century in the domain of criminal biology. The chapter means to objectively reflect that the development of biology offered a broad space to the technology and method of study criminal causes, meanwhile, dialectically work out the reasons of science and technology why the theory of biological causes of crimes are being questioned and criticized from multiple angles.Chapter 3 describes the current situation of the research on criminal biology. I believe that the absence of a scientific and fair understand of criminal biological research results in a slow development. Therefore, this chapter demonstrates how scientific the research of criminal biological causes is, then illustrates its value of understanding, justice and legislation. After all, back to the status quo in our country, this chapter further analyzes and evaluates the present subjective and objective elements which constraint to the development of criminal biology and criticizes some researches in this field.Base on the analysis of the previous chapter, chapter 4 pays more attention to the direction of the development of criminal biological research. It details the opinion whether those who are abnormal in biological factors should be convicted through analyzing the problems of the research of criminal biology we are faced to in the system of the law. At last, the chapter deeply probes the position of criminal biological causes in the system of criminal causes.
