Mao Zedong’s New Democratic Economic Ideology And Its Contemporary Value

New democratic theory is an important theoretical source of the theory of the primary stage of socialism. Currently, we are in full swing for the construction of socialist modernization with Chinese characteristics, and considering the future development of the primary stage of socialism. Therefore, it is extremely necessary to study on the historical experience and lessons of Mao Zedong’s new democratic economic theory.It has been more than seventy years since Mao Zedong’s "New Democracy was published. In these seventy years, domestic and foreign scholars have never stopped researching Mao Zedong’s new democratic economic ideology, and have achieved wealthy research results in the formation and development, the specific content, economic nature and other aspects of Mao Zedong’s new democratic economic ideology. However, concerning to the problems such as "the mutation of Mao Zedong’s new democratic economic ideology ","the contemporary value of Mao Zedong’s new democratic economic ideology" and so on, the research that we have made is rather weak and limited. As a breakthrough point, this paper adopts the methods of literature analysis and the combination of theory and practice. Based on the analysis of the formation and mutation of Mao Zedong’s new democratic economic ideology, this paper further analyses the contemporary value of Mao Zedong’s new democratic economic ideology.This study suggests that the formation, development and the mutation process of Mao Zedong’s new democratic economic ideology can be divided into four stages:Mao Zedong’s new democratic economic ideology sprouted in the Agrarian Revolutionary War period, had partial development in the Sino-Japanese War period, had comprehensive development in the Liberation War period, and had mutation process around the period of founding new China. The study also believes that the specific contents of Mao Zedong’s new democratic economic ideology can generally be analyzed from five aspects which are:the state-run economy, the state capitalist economy, the private capitalist economy, cooperative economy and individual economy. Studying the experience and shortcoming of Mao Zedong’s new democratic economic ideology has great practical importance and theoretical significance on China’s ongoing construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Studying Mao Zedong’s new democratic economic ideology helps us continue to uphold the basic economic system in the primary stage of socialism conformed to the situation in China which is called " the public ownership is the main form and seeks the joint development of diversified forms of ownership "; helps us handle the hot issues with a scientific attitude that we encounter in contemporary society; contributes to improve people’s way of life in the transition period of China; and also contributes to the enrichment and development of the history of Marxism.
