The rural staying women in our country were formed in the process of the deepening of China’s reform and opening policy, especially the rapid development of the economy and the improvement of the marketization. However, due to the division of the dual urban-rural social structure and system has not been fully broken, a city can not provide the condition for the rural labor-force to move the cities with their all family members. Also the rural labors, because they have no enough money and they can not break through the limit of the barrier, their families members can not move to the cities. According to the relative data statistic, there are about40to50million rural staying women in China, which is a special and large of group. The existing literature studies and discusses the problem mainly from the following aspects:analyzing staying reasons; influences of staying, such as marriage relationship, physical and mental health, and self-development, etc. All those studies view the staying phenomenon as a problem, and the staying women are seen as vulnerable groups. And case studies are in the majority, nationwide study is less, the western region case, the central regions of less, not a comprehensive understanding of the national rural staying women overall situation. And lack of staying women important related people of the comparison of study and so on.Thus, in this paper, the author tried to break through the traditional way, using a completely different perspective, strengths perspective, to review this group. By the questionnaire surveys and case-depth interviews, firstly, the author found that the following problems generally exist in these women. They have to do so much hard work that their health is threatened. Both psychological stress and mental burden are too heavy, less social interaction and more self-development limited and so on. Targeted to these, the author carried out various forms of social work activities, especially the group works of tea technology exchange and agriculture product mutual activities.Through these group works, the problems in these women have been a partial solution. It lowered their agricultural production intensity, alleviated their psychological stress and enhanced their self-abilities.At the same time, through observation and interviews, the author also sees the positive side in the part of women. These include three aspects:personal situation, couples feelings and family. The author thinks that the rural staying women at present in rural only belongs to one kind of phenomenon, having not formed a significant social problem. The women don’t agree with their own special left-behind identity; they become vulnerable groups not because they are not staying but they live as women. They choose to stay not in desperation, which like the scholars believed, but after weighing out many factors. Because of their husbands are not at home for a long time, they have to face daily decision-making, which can help them improve their abilities. They learned to protect themselves from the unsafe factors. They have been complained about the left-behind life, but now they are satisfied and appreciate. Staying is not the reason for their marriage’s disintegration; due to their husbands not staying at home for a long time, they do less daily housework, while family productive labor are increased. In the education of their children, they also have their own strengths. In conclusion, the author argued that, the social work through strengths perspective can only partly not completely solve the problem in these women. The best way to it lies on more effective policies created and powerfully promoted by the government which are both benefit to migrant workers and staying women, if the staying women have not disappeared in a short time. Of course, the most effective solution is to eliminate the staying phenomenon and end the women’s staying life.
