During the period of the1911revolution, the Red Cross Society was founded in Nanchang and Jiujiang, which proclaimed the birth of the Red Cross Movement in Jiangxi province. In the period of the Republic of China, the organization construction of Jiangxi Red Cross Society was gradually improved through branch expansion, fund raising and membership recruitment. On the basis, Jiangxi Red Cross Society had made significant achievements in rescue on the battlefield, disaster relief and medical services and had become an important part of Jiangxi charities. In the perspective of the state and society, the relationship between Jiangxi Red Cross Society and the government, had experienced significant changes:from mutual coordination in the earlier stage to the relation of the dominated and the dominator in the later stage. As National Goverment turned the Red Cross Society to government-run, the Jiangxi Red Cross Society was ruled by local government and gradually lost the independence of civil society and then became the government’s vassal. Such changes in relationship profoundly reflect the fusion and conflict of the state and society.
