The aging of the population is one of our concerns in the21stcentury. As thecountry with the most elderly people and the fastest growing speed of the elderlypopulation in the world, China has to properly arrange the elderly people and dealwith the risks brought by the fast aging to ensure its stable and fast social andeconomic development. Under this background, this paper hopes to make its owncontributions by studying people’s ideas of living in nursing homes and thecurrent situation of the nursing homes in Nanning. The qualitative data areobtained through the field survey carried out in two nursing homes and thequestionnaire survey conducted in Nanning city and the quantitative data areanalyzed by the Logistic regression model, by the way of which the ideas andendowment willing of people of different ages about the nursing homes areacquired. It is found that the change concerning about the urban residents’ideas ofliving in nursing homes is obvious and large compared with the previous researchresults. In addition to traditional culture and healthy conditions, the changes offamily structure and economic situations caused by social and economicdevelopment, the people’s impressions about the nursing homes, and their ownhardware facilities and service quality also exerts certain influences on urbancitizen’s willing of endowment in the nursing homes. However, the developmentof the nursing homes, especially public nursing homes, is severely lagging behind.The supply and demand gap is rather huge and the beds are in short demand.Furthermore, the supply and demand conflict will be increasingly sharpening.Therefore, the government should pay more attention to improving this awkwardsituation and perfecting the relevant policies.
