The Problem Of Algeria And Taiwan In The Establishment Of Foreign Relationship Between China And France

The establishment of foreign relationship between China and France is the first time for China to establish diplomatic relations with a country of Western bloc during the Cold War, it is the product of the special political environment during the Cold War and the interaction of Sino-French foreign policy in the ’50s and ’60s. This event has far-reaching influence, for both China and France, the international situation, even the mode for later establishment of foreign relationship between china and other Western countries it is worth the enough research.The Paper is divided into four chapters, the chapter Ⅰ discusses the historical background of this establishment of foreign relationship, the demand of China and France, and their contact form1949to1958.The Chapter Ⅱ discusses after Charle De GAULE came to power in1958,two countries made their first stage of negotiations, and their conflict in the Algerian issue, and how this conflict lead the failure of negotiation in this stage.The chapter Ⅲ discusses the second stage of negotiations after the independence of Algerian in1962, key issue in this stage is the problem of Taiwan. China deal with this problem with the view of one China policy, but France opposed any Prerequisite, after China made two compromises, the negotiation success finally in1964.The conclusion will contrast the problem of Algerian and Taiwan, and analyze their similarity. These two problems were regarded as the core interest of France and China, and they are the main barrier of establishment of relationship. We could find the change of china’s foreign policy by regard the different way to deal with these problems. And it made an important influence to the later Sino-French foreign relation,china’s foreign policy and the situation in the Taiwan strait.
