Research On The Ethnic Problems Of Border Areas In The Process Of Urbanization

China is a united multi-ethnic country. Most of the ethnic minorities mainly distribute in border areas. Ethnic problems in border areas are closely related to state sovereignty, territorial integrity, social stability, borderland consolidating, economic development and the solidarity of the nationalities. Our ethnic problem will influence country’s economic development and social stability, and will also influence the surrounding countries, the whole area and even global stability in an era of economic globalization, because the international relations are connected inseparable. Since reform and opening, along with the acceleration of the process of urbanization, the population flow of ethnic groups which is becoming more and more frequent brought historic changes to the ethnic pattern in border areas. Ethnic conflicts between different ethnic groups have also increased on account of the differences of economic interests, traditional culture and customs. How to solve ethnic problems in border areas in the process of urbanization is a major issue that the development of harmonious ethnic relationship must face.From the perspective of urbanization, this paper takes ethnic problems of border areas as the research object. On the basis of the preliminary academic research results, it introduces the content, characteristics and manifestation of ethnic problems of border areas in the urbanization process. At the same time, the reasons have been analyzed in the deeper level. Based on the reference of the experience of ethnic problems in the urbanization process aboard, it examines systematically and deeply the measures to solve the ethnic problems of border areas in the urbanization process. Under the condition that the urbanization progresses steadily, to solve the ethnic problems of border areas in the new period, to construct harmonious ethnic relationship in border areas, we must strengthen the consciousness of ethnic solidarity, speed up the scientific and harmonious development of border areas, improve the system of ethnic policy and legal system, develop ethnic culture, integrate ethnic and state identity, cultivate and use ethnic minority cadres who have both ability and political integrity, build diversified and integrated governance system.
